NHS to private dental practice

Moving away from NHS

You are in a NHS practice .. probably have been for some time .. the new contract is here.. you are part of it but for how long?

Since 1990, an increasing number of dentists have been moving away from the dependency of the NHS for their practice income. However, many dentists equally decided to stay with the NHS, in some shape or form with varying degrees of "private" mixing, hoping that with time, the government would listen to the profession.

Change is constantly around us.. some of us will still, no matter what, stay working within an NHS environment for as long as possible .. How long that will be possible no one knows!

Continuing to be part of the NHS is no bad thing if you are happy with it. However, long term security is a new issue now that local PCT's have control of the purse strings - who knows whether they will deliver 'the goods' in the future.

Unfortunately, you need ' the goods ' - it is the money you and your practice depends on.
