Dentistry as a business is not part of the typical undergraduate dental curriculum, nor dealt with in great depth as part of vocational training. So, for associates intending to break away and open a practice, professional help from the outset can guide you through starting and building up a practice and make it a rewarding and enjoyable decision. With today’s challenges in clinical dentistry, for dentists running their own practices single handed through to the large practices with partners and associates, the ever changing rules and regulations along with the increased workloads applicable to the business of modern day dentistry, can not only increase stress levels but reduce the quality of your personal life. Help for non-dentists With recent changes in legislation it is now possible for non-dentists to own a dental practice…CrystalClear can not only help with this new venture but can also assist with a dental presence to conform to dental legislation and legal requirements with the GDC. Dr Robert Grabowski BDS Rob Grabowski qualified from Dundee Dental School in 1980. Even before graduating, the business of running a dental practice was always of great interest. After a few months into his one and only associate position, Rob and his wife Gail attended a course on ‘Starting Your Own Practice’. Soon after attending this course the first opportunity materialised to purchase his own practice. More practices followed, either by forming a squat or taking over existing practices. Rob has now bought and sold five practices in East Yorkshire. The challenge of turning around weak and under-performing practices has been his strength. Having run a number of successful busy dental practices, Rob has also been a VT trainer and a clinical director for a large dental corporate.
